How to Recognise Bed Bugs in a Flat in Warsaw? 5 Warning Signs

Why are bed bugs a serious problem?

Bed bugs multiply fast — a single female lays up to several hundred eggs over her lifetime. They live hidden and feed mainly at night.

Trigger allergies

Bites can cause strong skin reactions and itching.

Feed at night

Hard to notice until the population has grown significantly.

Hide in cracks

Mattresses, skirting boards, furniture — hard to reach every hiding place.

Multiply fast

A female lays up to several hundred eggs in her lifetime.

How to recognise a bed bug infestation

Watch out for the following signs:

  • Small, dark spots on bedding and the mattress — these are bed bug droppings
  • A sweetish-musty smell noticeable in the morning, before you air out the bedroom
  • Itchy bites arranged in lines or clusters
  • Pale shells (shed skins) in the mattress seams and bed frame
  • Live insects the size of an apple seed, rust-brown in colour

How we deal with bed bugs — methods that work

We match the method to the scale of the problem and the location of the infestation:

ULV fogging

Our recommended, most effective method for larger infestations.

Contact spray

A proven contact method.

Methods we don't recommend

Gassing, freezing and heat treatment — ineffective or impractical in a home setting.

Guarantee on bed bug removal

Because of the bed bug's biological cycle and the fact that products take a minimum of 3–4 weeks to work (depending on weather conditions, surface porosity and how well the recommendations are followed), we grant the guarantee after the follow-up treatment:

  • ULV fogging — guarantee up to 6 months after the second paid treatment (21–28 days apart)
  • Contact spray — guarantee up to 3 months after the third paid treatment (21–28 days apart)
  • Gassing, freezing and heat treatment — not recommended in a home setting

How much does bed bug treatment cost?

The price depends on the chosen package and the scale of the problem. Below are the methods we actually use, along with prices and guarantee terms:

Pressure spraying

Guarantee after the 3rd treatment — up to 3 months

Precise application of insecticide directly into bed bug hiding spots — mattress seams, skirting boards, furniture crevices. Budget Package, treatments spaced 21–28 days apart due to the bed bugs' biological cycle and the product's duration of action.

from 250 zł

ULV fogging (cold fog)

Most popular choice

Guarantee after the 2nd treatment — up to 6 months

Dispersal of the product as a microscopic mist that reaches the smallest crevices and settles on every surface in the room. Standard Package, treatments spaced 21–28 days apart due to the bed bugs' biological cycle and the product's duration of action.

from 400 zł

ULV fogging + IPM methods

Most effective

Guarantee after the 2nd treatment — up to 6 months

Fogging combined with additional techniques (thorough monitoring, sealing hiding spots, mechanical support) for maximum effectiveness against larger infestations. Premium Package, treatments spaced 21–28 days apart due to the bed bugs' biological cycle and the product's duration of action.

from 400 zł

Cryonite freezing (dry ice)

Not recommended in flats

A stream of carbon dioxide at around –78°C that instantly freezes insects and their eggs on direct contact — a completely chemical-free method, but one that requires great precision. Ask our advisor whether it's an option for you.

Room heat treatment

Not recommended in flats

Raising the temperature of the entire room to a level lethal for bed bugs and their eggs — requires specialised heating equipment and a completely sealed room. Ask our advisor whether it's an option for you.

Gas fumigation

Not recommended in flats

Filling the room with a gaseous insecticide that reaches every crevice and spot inaccessible to spraying or fogging — requires evacuation and a fully sealed property. Ask our advisor whether it's an option for you.

Steaming? You can do that yourself

No sugar-coating it: this is the only method you genuinely don't need us for. Here's how to do it properly:

  • Use a steam cleaner or steam mop reaching at least 100°C at the nozzle — anything lower won't kill the eggs.
  • Go carefully over seams, buttons and corners of the mattress and upholstery — that's where bed bugs and eggs hide.
  • Repeat after 7–10 days to finish off any that survived the first round.

Did you know...?

How fast does the problem grow?

0 weeks

is enough for a single bed bug carried into a flat to grow into a large colony across the whole home.

How to prepare your flat for the treatment?

For the treatment to be fully effective, prepare your flat following our tips:

Wash bedding and clothing

At a high temperature, ideally above 60°C.

Move furniture away from the walls

Make cracks and contact points easier to reach.

Vacuum the mattress and seams

Remove visible contamination before the treatment.

Secure your pets

For the duration of the treatment and airing out the room.

Don't clean after the treatment

For at least 24 hours, so the product has time to work.
